WE WILL NOW RETURN TO OUR REGULARLY SCHEDULED HOMECOMING TRADITIONS

My schedule this past week has led to missing several homecoming week traditions. The first being Coronation...Congratulations to Queen Katie Fritz and King Gary Nielsen. I have also missed the Junior High and JV football game on Monday and BOTH volleyball games this week. I did however manage to make two very important and time honored traditions....the Bonfire and the Homecoming Parade.

The Bonfire took place on Thursday night...this is always a time for the cheerleaders to get the community as well as the football players all pepped up for the big game. This year the East Mills Wolverines will be taking on the South Page Rebels.

As you can see, since the school colors have recently changed to Green, Black & Silver...we have had several Bruce Banner sightings at school functions. (That would be the Hulk for those of you under the age of 30.)

The Homecoming Parade on Friday afternoon always delights all those in attendance. Now, I did not go to school here so my expertise on a Malvern homecoming is limited to just the past 10 years or so. However, this past week a Malvern alumni, Jeff Melton posted several videos from the Homecoming Parade of 1987.

From the looks of this video, the parade has grown substantially. Many of the the business' in the community as well as many of the civic organizations all had entries in this years parade. Just like any other year the parade kicked off with the American Legion Post color guard presenting our nations colors. Followed up by the middle school marching band, the homecoming court, the class floats, the business floats and capping of the parade is the East Mills High School Marching Band.

As you can see below, the Malvern Business & Professional Women titled their entry "Working 9 to 5 for a Wolverine Victory" The cast members on this entry include Phyllis Fredrickson, Gladys Doyle and Sharon Chickering. I think that Sharon had a some temporary augmentation done to help her portray Dolly Parton>

Then of course,..there is always that one reunion class that feels that they are so special that they feel the need to run the parade course twice through...just in case everyone missed them going by the first time. This year it was the Class of 1973.

Yes guys....you are special!

Now on to the game... GOOD LUCK WOLVERINES!
